Drop Bears Discord

Privacy

What this site keeps about you, why it keeps it and how to get rid of it. Short version: not much. We don't sell any of it.

What we keep

Only what signing in, linking and the board need. You can browse the whole site without signing in. Then the only thing tracking visits is Google Analytics (see Cookies below).

Signing in
Your Discord ID, your Discord display name and your avatar, plus when you first and last signed in. Discord also tells us whether you're in the Drop Bears server. We never see your Discord password and we don't keep Discord's sign in token.
Linking Steam
The Steam ID you play on, matched to your Discord ID, with when it was linked and how it was confirmed (through your Discord connection or through Steam's own sign in). Steam signs you in on its own site, so we never see that password either.
Link history
Every link and unlink goes into a history the bot reads. That history only ever grows. Unlinking adds an unlink entry. It doesn't erase the earlier ones.
Your role
Member, mod or admin, plus whether you've been blocked from the board.
The board
The threads and replies you post, with the time you posted them. Deleting a post hides it from the board. The text stays in our database until you ask us to wipe it.
Leaving the Discord
If the bot tells us you have left, we note your Discord ID and the time. That locks the loadout builder and board posting. Rejoin and sign in again and the note is cleared.

Why

To line your stats up with your Steam account, to run the Drop Bears bot, to unlock the loadout builder for Discord members and to moderate the board. That's it.

Who sees it

The Drop Bears bot
Reads your Discord ID and Steam ID pair plus the link history, through a locked endpoint that needs the bot's own key. That's how it matches your stats in Discord.
Everyone
Anything you post on the board is public and shows your Discord name and avatar. Your Steam ID is never shown anywhere on this site.
Whoever runs the site
Can read the database when something needs fixing or a mod needs to sort out the board.

Cookies

Three of our own, all signed so they can't be faked or read by page scripts. Signing out clears all three.

db_session30 days
Keeps you signed in. Holds your Discord ID and whether you were in the Discord when you signed in.
db_tools30 days
Unlocks the loadout builder. Holds your Discord ID.
db_link10 minutes
Only while you're linking accounts. Holds the sign in that's in progress.
Google AnalyticsGoogle's own, up to 2 years
We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and which links people click, like the Discord button. It sets Google's _ga cookies. If your browser sends Do Not Track it doesn't load at all.

Where it lives

The site, the database and the sign in all run on Cloudflare. Fonts come from Google Fonts. Avatars load from Discord. Leaderboard and quest numbers come from the Drop Bears stats site and aren't stored here.

Unlink or delete it all

To unlink, go to Link your accounts, sign in with Discord and hit Unlink my accounts. The bot stops matching your stats within a minute.

To have everything deleted (your account, your links, your posts and the link history), open a ticket in #open-a-ticket on the Discord. Tell us your Discord name and we'll wipe what this site holds.
